Making Art to Decorate and Shape Your Office Space
I’m a creative person. I work on all sorts of projects and my creative endeavors boost my personal strength and managerial resources.
I’ve been drawn to the smell of paint since my youth but perfectionism prevented me from just picking up a brush and starting to draw. That seemed as frivolous to me as attempts to draw my business.
One day my art coach suggested that I express the solution to a difficult business task using acrylic paints on canvas. I don’t know where the inspiration came from but I found energy for the solution. I now make this recommendation to leaders: “Be brave! Pick up your brushes, choose a color you like, and go with the flow.” In art I found support, courage, and new ideas for my personal life, aesthetic enjoyment, and more.
As an artist, I use art strategies when I manage projects – they help me learn how to find structure and purpose in everyday chaos. When I’m enjoying art, I nurture new ideas.
The teachers who trained me to find my creativity and innovative spirit have been revolutionary artists who went against typical opinions from traditional schools of “academic” art, engrained deep-rooted standards, and life’s comfortable flow.
You might be surprised at why I work in so many dissimilar styles. The answer is simple: I experiment and so turn to various artists, establishing an inner dialogue with them. Every creative conversation produces results in my professional and personal lives.
I love trying diverse materials: oil paint, acrylics, water colors, glue, India ink, sand, clay, paper, shards of mirror, antique glass, and…
I’m grateful to my mentors – real-life and virtual, contemporary and ancient – in many fields: the philosophy and history of art, psychology, management, and coaching. They inspire me, teach me creative risk, and push me to make my own experiments.
